Ian Roberts, University of Bedfordshire How I work I have covered many of the leading schools in Bedfordshire for several years and have refined a very successful method of working which produces a high quality result while keeping print prices low. I do not attempt to rush to get prints made on the same night as it is impossible to guarrantee a high quality result this way. Also, it is very wasteful making prints that may not be purchased, which increases the price. My approach is to display the photos on a laptop from which students can order the prints they like. They pay cash on the night and I deliver prints to the school, usually within a week. The advantage of this approach is better quality and better value because: I don't limit the number of photos that I take per person, so there are more to choose from All prints are hand made and edited, so are of higher quality than machine made prints I can combine two or more images if one person blinks in a group shot (which often happens) As I only print what is ordered, my prices are kept lower. As I deliver prints to the school, there is no postage charge Online Orders I am often asked whether students can order online rather than pay cash on the night. The answer is "Yes" but I prefer to use this option mainly for repeat sales for parents etc. for two main reasons. Whether or not I charge an attendance fee depends on cash sales on the night Online orders are sent by post and attract some delivery and transaction charges Prices for School Proms Photography Often there is no attendance fee if there is a genuine prospect of good print sales, which largely depends on the numbers of students attending. When working with a school for the first time, I may request an attendance fee but agree a refund based on actual print sales. My normal attendance fee is £50 per hour, but please contact me to discuss your specific needs in detail. Print Prices: A5 - £5.00; A4 - £8.50; Other sizes available on request.
